One Year Of SacWellness!

This month marks the one year anniversary of our launching of SacWellness! We started working on it in February 2018 but officially launched it to the public on June 10, 2018. Since then we’ve seen a lot of growth on the site!

We’ve also run into a good number of problems that we’ve had to figure out and solve! All in all it has been a good year, but a lot of work!

As I begin writing this post, I’m not entirely sure what it will turn into, but I’m a bit of a stats nerd and I’d like to share some statistics about the site and its performance over the last year. There might be some insights you can gain through seeing how people in our area interact with the site.

I’m hoping to collect data over time and be able to present annual trends in what people appear to be searching for in therapy in the greater Sacramento area. Due to the nature of SEO and the fact that our site is still relatively new, I wouldn’t judge the following data as completely representative of search patterns in our area, but rather patterns of interaction with our site.

Site Statistics

General Statistics

Over the last year 29,885 people visited the site!

Our therapist search system was used 4,627 times

We got 59,143 page views

Listing Stats

Therapist listings were visited 7,816 times!

We currently have 156 therapist listings and 10 therapy/process group listings

In contrast, we currently have 234 registered users.

-Some people are signing up with the intent of creating their listing later and then getting busy and/or forgetting.

-We also had a major issue on and off for the first several months that occasionally prevented people from being able to submit their listings….it was bad. People would fill out the form, hit submit, and everything would basically go away. Sadly, because of this, we likely lost a good number of people who joined in the beginning who were met with this error :-(. We hope they come back. We have fixed this problem and are constantly working on bettering the site.

Our Therapy/Mental Health Blog

A big part of SacWellness is our blog where we post articles primarily written by therapists, counselors, and others in the mental health field. We’ve had a lot of interest in guest blogging and to date 15 of our 68 published articles have been written by guest bloggers, primarily other therapists in the area. On average our guest blog posts are getting 174 views in their first 5 days on the site. Read more about guest blogging

Therapist Categories

In compiling all of this data I discovered that I neglected to enable search tracking in Google Analytics. So this year I can’t provide any statistics about what people are searching for specifically, but I can give stats on what category pages people visited. After enabling search tracking I think next year should yield data that is more representative of what people are searching for.

Top 5 Visited Category Pages

Insurance-782 views
Issues-624 views
Cities– 569 views
Approach – 416 views
Language – 345 views
-This data suggests that the primary concerns potential clients have when searching for a therapist are insurance coverage, issues treated, and location. This also indicates that there is a real demand for therapists who speak languages other than English.

Top 5 Visited Treatment Issue Pages

LGBTQ+ – 174 views
sex therapy – 167 views
chronic illness – 111 views
gender identity – 110 views
-A note here- many of these issues are issues I personally specialize in. Due to the way search engines work, it’s possible that SacWellness may be coming up more in search results for things that I specialize in because I am the creator of this site and my personal site is linked to multiple times. If this is the case, over time we will see these trends diversify.

Top 5 Visited Therapeutic Approach Pages

dbt – 141 views
art therapy – 97 views
ACT – 62 views
Brain spotting – 57 views
EMDR – 49 views

Top 5 Visited Insurance Pages

Aetna – 101 views
Blue Shield – 58 views
Cigna – 54 views
Medicare – 43 views

Google Rankings

We’ve been tracking our rankings in Google and have been very pleased to see our progress!

At the one year anniversary of launching the site:

  • The site was appearing on page one for 256 out of the 931 keywords we’re tracking
  • The site appeared within the first 2 pages for 438 of the 931 keywords we’re tracking
an uptrend in google analytics for SacWellness in 2019
You can see a definite upward trend in our presence in search results ^_^. The “average position” is the site’s average position across all searches that it appears in.

Other Insights

99 people visited the page for therapists who offer video sessions.
81 visited the page for phone sessions
and
78 visited the page for in home services
-We added these categories to the site only a couple of months ago! There is a definite demand for them. Be sure to add these services to your listing if you offer them. See this section of our FAQ if you need help: How to add remote locations to your listing
The page for therapy/process groups was visited 136 times.
We just added this one a couple of months ago too!
Right now we only have a dozen or so groups listed on the site. Group listings are free with your therapist listing ^_^.
See this link to read more about how to create a therapy/process group listing
Its been a busy year and its taken a lot of work to get to this point! We will continue working hard to make SacWellness the best it can be! Thank you for your interest in the site and remember, therapist listings are free till 2020, so join now!
