Navigating Relationships
When One Person Is Poly And The Other Is Mono
-10,914 views-
The Sacramento area is home to a good number of people who are interested in exploring or are involved in polyamory, ethical non-monogamy, or other forms of non-traditional relationships. Sometimes it can be hard to navigate these relationships, especially if you are new to them or one person in a relationship is monogamous and the other is not. Local therapist Genevieve Fahey talks about navigating mono – poly relationships in this article.

Culture Bound Syndromes
-3,656 views-
This is an older one that has seen increased views over the last year or two. I’m thinking it may have something to do with increased awareness of racial injustice and many peoples’ desire to learn more and become more aware and/or a better ally.
This article is about a section of the the official book of mental health diagnoses used in the US (the DSM) that talks about how some disorders are unique to particular cultures. Some examples are provided. If you’re looking for something more along the lines of racial justice resources, check out our list of black lives matter resources.

Active Scam Alert:
Calls From People Impersonating Officers
-3,032 views-
Unfortunately, scams targeting therapists are a pretty common occurrence. I try to catch them whenever they come around and send out alerts to the local community. This particular one is especially insidious and has scared a lot of people. It involves someone posing as a law enforcement officer calling and pressuring the victim to pay an alleged fee.

“Pure O” OCD
-2,200 views-
This is an important one I find myself talking with people about on occasion. We tend to think of OCD as being characterized by compulsions: repetitive behaviors you feel like you have to do. Actually, an OCD diagnosis does not require the presence of compulsions, and sometimes obsessive thoughts are the primary issue. This has come to be referred by some as “Pure O” OCD.

10 Things You Can Do Right Now
To Cope With Stress And Anxiety
-1,870 views-
This is an article I wrote several years ago, containing several things you can do right now to cope with stress and anxiety. Generally coping with stress and anxiety involves recognizing issues that cause problems, planning ahead for them, accepting feelings of anxiety and stress when they come up, and then engaging in some kind of healthy coping skill to get you through tough times and return to normal baseline. These coping skills are very individual and you have to find what works for you. try some of these, but I especially recommend you have some kind of healthy breathing practice in place for hard times.
